scanographs
- 1) Creative Assignment: Create two series of scanographs with four images each; group both series around a theme, an idea, or a story. Feel welcome to work collaboratively. Present your outcome on your blog either through single images or as an ebook using software such as flip snack (as an example, see: https://www.flipsnack.com/katzenroehrl/26.html). — Advice: you may not want to put hard materials on the surface of the scanner without plastic/foil or a protective layer in between. Experiment scanning with the lid/without the lid. Have fun!
Suggested lesson plan activity, which you are free to take up or interpret creatively: a) identify objects that you feel represent you, b) compose them on top of the scanner bed, c) be mindful of composition, d) scan them and create three prints that symbolize/represent you. - 2) Write a short paragraph on your blog about the potential of scanography or, if you prefer, sound for art-making and/or classroom teaching.
- 3) Share the current status of your Impact25work on Canvas. Include a preliminary sketch or image. Point out with whom you collaborate. Reminder: the final outcome of this collaborative project is due in week 5 (Feb 23).

- Scanography is a technique that uses a flatbread scanner to create photography as scanner photography, as this is a process of capturing digitized images of objects for the purpose of creating printable art by using a flatbed "photo" scanner. The potential of scanography could be commercial. The high resolution of recent film scanners allows very close macro photographies. For example, if we make the background becomes dark and highlight the object, which enables us to present the image of a product in detail without distraction from surrounding environment. In addition, there is an art form named scanner art. The process of creating art with a scanner can be as simple as arranging objects on the scanner and capturing the resulting image; people could compose ordinary objects on the top of the scanner bed to make some creative art. Moreover, people can try moving as the scanner moves, the movement may appear in a totally different view.Although a scanner has a very limited capability of capturing depth of field, it is possible to scan small three-dimensional objects. People can play around with different objects, materials, water, or paint, including play with your physical body.
